SD1 Youth Theatre’s continued growth and success is down to having a dedicated team who strive to create visionary performances whilst maintaining an unfaltering commitment to the individual needs of all our members. Working together as a group has included involving our members, parents, volunteers, supporters and community in all of our activities.
Alison Withers
Artistic Director

BA(Hons) Secondary Education: Drama
MEP (Educational Practice)
Alison has been involved with Stage Door 1 since its first show, and has been a tutor with the youth theatre since 2011. She has a degree in Drama Education, a Masters Degree in Educational Practice and currently teaches Drama and English in a Secondary School in Caerphilly.
With a passion for theatre, Alison has performed in many outstanding productions, such as Disco Inferno, High School Musical, The Wiz, and Grease. Finding a love for directing, Alison directed Be My Baby and ran her own drama group whilst studying for her A Levels. With Stage Door 1, Alison has been involved in producing shows such as Magic of the Musicals, Starlight Express, Les Miserables and Jesus Christ Superstar, to name but a few. Taking on many different roles within Stage Door 1, Alison has directed, choreographed and stage-managed many performances over the years.
In 2017, Alison and her husband Harry became the owners of Stage Door 1. Alison is loving the opportunity to embrace her creative side!
Kyle John
Musical Director

Kyle joined Stage door 1 as Doc in Snow White and since then has gone on to play various roles including Marius in Les Miserables and Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar and most recently Rusty in Starlight Express.
Kyle is Stage Door 1's outstanding Musical Director, and is also training to be a Secondary School Music Teacher.
Sebastian Lewis
Assistant Director

Sebastian joined Stage Door 1 at age 11 and joined the Stage Door team in 2013.
Sebastian has completed his GCSE's and A Levels, receiving outstanding grades across the board. Whilst auditioning for Drama Schools, Sebastian has undertaken many different dramatic projects, and has been an active member of the Young Actors Studio at RWCMD.
Ever since performing as a cat in his primary school's production of Hansel & Gretel, Sebastian has always had a distinct passion for acting. Joining Stage Door 1 in 2009, he performed as Rooster in the production of Annie Jr and has gone on to play various roles in pantomime, Javert in Les Miserables and many other roles. Sebastian has also fulfilled the role of Stage Manager on multiple occasions.
Bethany Barrell
Infant Co-Ordinator
Beth has been a member for nearly 10 years, both on and off stage. Recently, Bethany has taken on the role of Assistant Youth Coordinator, becoming a tutor for our infants group. She is a true entertainer and works tirelessly to inspire our youngest members, encouraging their skills in all areas of performance.
